Tesla to scrap off Radar System on Selected Models

The advance Drive assist system for which Tesla is know for has been an issue resulting into scrapping it off from Model Y , Model 3

Tesla one of the lead EV manufacturing company have come to a decision on removing off the Radar Base system on the the cars, this some after reports came on portal of autopilot being failed to be the safest technology for Drive assist, leading to removal of Radar Based system in Cars being produced from this month.


Rather than the Radar system, the company will now focus on bringing camera system for the car called as "Tesla Vision". A thought may arise camera may fogged, dirty sometime due to glitch they may stop working in that case what can be done? As Tesla not clarifies on that, but they might have something in bag before making the decision(hoping so). The system comes with 8 camera system and Elon Musk states it better than human driver and its their further step towards self driving.


NHTSA (the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has removed their check mark from this vehicles from April 27 which were based on certain criteria and had various features like features such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, crash imminent braking and dynamic brake support, resulting the cars are now not is category of safe cars.


It's a major drop for Tesla as their safety rating collapsed on this two models and a overall damage to their image. Company says all the models booked before May are on the list to get the "Tesla Vision" and will be contacted for the same.


But what will camera system include : 360 degrees 8 cameras, a 250m of camera range, ultrasonic 12 sensors for detection. Company in the statement on their site said the car equipped with camera based system will have some features temporarily " limited or inactive" such as Emergency Lane Departure. Autosteer a key feature which keeps the car in lane while driving is now limited to 75 miles per hour (120 kilometers per hour) and a longer distance from traffic in front of the vehicle. Being said that Tesla has stated that all the features will be back to normal after over-the-air software updates coming within weeks.


As Tesla removes this features their is no clear statement on why this features were discontinued but it might due to reports, or Tesla is going for cost cutting? Tesla said that the radar system will be continued to models developed outside north America and they will bring this features to all of this car soon
