Jaguar Land Rover makes way for the New Defender Prototype powered by Hydrogen

JLR group to make the prototype which will be fueled by Hydrogen, a mission to make zeropipe emission by 2036 and net zero carbon emissions across its supply chain, products and operations by 2039

Onto the Mission

On June 15 , JLR group made announcement that they are building a prototype of Defender, which will be powered by Hydrogen, which will be based on the defender. Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), will start test at end of 2021.

JLR Group says "Hydrogen FCEVs forecast to top 10 million by 2030" also stating that there are nearly 10,000 fuel stations worldwide. JLR says that the Hydrogen fueled cars are complimentary to battery based electric vehicles. Cars powered by hydrogen gives high energy density and rapid refuelling, making the loss minimal during low temperatures, making the technology ideal for larger, longer-range vehicles, or those operated in hot or cold environments.

Beginning from 2018, globally the use of FCEV are being doubled while the fuel stations are also increased by 20%, prediction also states to increase the number of FCEV t0 10 million and having more than 10,000 fuel stations worldwide. The testing for the vehicle will begin by end of 2021 in UK to know how much the car drinks, and it's offroad capability.

For making the project a sucess JLR has teamed up with Delta Motorsport, AVL, Marelli Automotive Systems and the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) for research, development and to create the prototype.

Definitely if the project gets a sucess, we will see more of the cars running from Hydrogen fuel also electric being the need. Hydrogen fuel might get onto the trend with electric, as gas and diesel have started being scrapped by companies, pushing themselves to make more electric vehicles
